Amida Simputer unveiled

Bharat Electronics and PicoPeta Simputers unveiled the Amida Simputer today. More details of the product can be found on the website www.amidasimputer.com.
The product is ready for the market eighteen months BEL and PicoPeta signed an agreement to jointly productize and market the Simputer platform developed by PicoPeta. 'It has been a long wait. But I am sure, and everyone will agree, after experiencing the product, that the Amida Simputer is worth the wait," said Mr. Y. Gopal Rao, CMD, Bharat Electronics. He further remarked, "BEL is fully committed to the success of this innovative product. We will bring our quality manufacturing expertise and technical support experience to this product."
Several innovations are packed in the Amida Simputer. Handwriting (in any language) and doodling on every screen, mailing these scribbles witha single tap, gesture technologies that allow changing a page or zooming of an image by a hand gesture are some examples. Several versions of the Amida Simputer are on offer to cater to a broad spectrum of people, including the much awaited under Rs. 10,000 Simputer.
Amida allows people to share information, stay connected and bond emotionally. It does these by breaking the fear of technology.
"We have taken the first steps of an Indian product company building a global brand, " said Prof. Vinay, Chairman of PicoPeta.

The Amida Simputer will be available through the web site www.amidasimputer.com and in show rooms that will be opened in Bangalore in April this year.
